Monochrome Square Darning

from $28.00

Darning is an ancient technique of weaving yarn or thread to mend holes in textiles. It’s a slow, careful method typically done by hand, or with small, handheld looms. It is best suited for sweaters or knitted items such as socks, hats, or gloves, although it also looks beautiful on small holes in denim, trousers, or outerwear.

This type of darning is a solid color, in a crisp square or rectangle shape (at mender’s discretion, depending upon the size and shape of the flaw). Please note that colors may look different on your screen. When choosing the size of your mend, please keep in mind that the flaw on your item must be smaller than this finished size indicated on the size chart. Please refer to the size chart to determine the best fit for your item, or reach out to us with questions at hello@theribbitfactory.com.

Content and Care

The Ribbit Factory uses 100% organic, Woolmark certified embroidery thread dyed with natural dyes. These materials are colorfast, durable, and fade and sweat resistant. It is recommended to hand wash or dry clean items with darning, however machine washing is possible on a delicate cycle. Keep in mind that machine washing - or any significant heat or agitation - may result in a felted texture of the mend.

Getting Your Item To Us

Items can be dropped off at The Ribbit Factory studio in Long Island City, NY by appointment, or mailed in from anywhere in the United States. After mends are added to cart, choose your preferred option. If you change your mind after the fact, no worries - just send us an email at hello@theribbitfactory.com, and we’ll make sure your items get over to us.

Lead Time
