Wayfare Sashiko

from $42.00

Sashiko is a Japanese word that translates to “little stabs.” It’s a traditional technique of creating a pattern using thread hand-stitched onto cloth. It has historically been used as a method of mending worn textiles. Our patches are made from 100% cotton, hand dyed in the US, and our Sashiko thread is also 100% cotton, dyed with natural dyeing techniques in Japan. A patch with Sashiko will be durable and beautiful, this mend is best for woven, non stretch garments (although some stretch is usually fine!). Think jeans, button down shirts, jackets or t-shirts.

This mend is for a single patch in the color and size of your choosing. The patch can be either “outer” (outside of the damaged area, covering it completely) or “inner” (underneath the damaged area, so the raw edge of the damage is still visible). The patches are unfinished and have a raw edge, and are topped with the Wayfare Sashiko pattern in the colors of your choosing . Please note that colors may look different on your screen. When choosing the size of your mend, please keep in mind that the flaw on your item must be smaller than this finished size indicated on the size chart. Please refer to the size chart to determine the best fit for your item, or reach out to us with questions at hello@theribbitfactory.com.
